L’Opéra, the Delhi-based French patisserie and bakery chain, is charting a bold course toward national expansion with plans to open 66 outlets by 2025, followed by a larger goal of 200 additional outlets over the next 7 to 8 years. This aggressive growth strategy will see the brand making significant inroads into both Tier I and emerging Tier II and III markets across India.
The brand, known for bringing authentic French culinary elegance to India, will soon have a presence in major metros including Mumbai, Pune, Bengaluru, and Chennai, as part of its first phase of expansion.
“This strategic expansion is backed by a clear market opportunity to meet the rising demand for premium, European-style café experiences outside traditional metro hubs,” said Kazem Samandari, Co-Founder and Executive Chairman of L’Opéra.
Revenue Growth and Retail Innovation
L’Opéra has set its sights on a 20-fold increase in revenue, a target that aligns with its physical expansion and product innovation pipeline. The brand’s recent soft launch at Delhi’s upscale Chanakya Mall exemplifies its push toward high-end, experiential retail in luxury settings.
Balancing Premium Quality with Competitive Pricing
Despite using gourmet ingredients like avocado, smoked salmon, and blue cheese, L’Opéra maintains a pricing model that is 20–30% more affordable than comparable five-star hotel offerings.
“This pricing strategy ensures accessibility without compromising quality, catering to affluent yet value-conscious consumers,” Samandari added.
Culinary Innovation and Leadership
Further strengthening its culinary appeal, L’Opéra recently introduced a new line of gourmet canapés curated by Chef Amelie Duthel, a Michelin-trained chef from Aix-en-Provence, France. The collection features a refined selection of Feuilletes, Tapas, and Mini Pastries, crafted with precision and inspired by traditional French flavors.
With a compelling blend of authentic products, strategic expansion, and accessible luxury, L’Opéra is well-positioned to transform from a French dream into a Pan-India café reality.
