From Rs 15,000 to Rs 1.8 Crore: How Dahibara Express is Taking Odisha’s Street Food Global

What began as a craving for comfort food has turned into a Rs 1.8 crore venture with international ambitions. Sourabh Khandelwal, the man behind Dahibara Express, started with just Rs 15,000 in Odisha, and today runs 12 outlets across India, with plans to expand abroad.

Launched in 2023, Dahibara Express was born out of Sourabh’s simple yet powerful vision: regional street foods should travel with people, no matter where they go. From Odisha’s 63 varieties of Dahibara Aloo Dum to traditional dishes like Kozhu Kattai, Dal Pakwan, and Sambar Vada, the chain has built its appeal on authenticity, affordability, and nostalgia.

Backed by pre-seed funding of Rs 6 crore from a Dubai-based investor, Dahibara Express keeps prices pocket-friendly (₹39–₹200), while ensuring hygiene and flavor remain uncompromised. Its franchise model, requiring just Rs 2 lakh, makes expansion swift and sustainable.

With 12 outlets already operational, the brand is set to enter Nepal and is in talks for Dubai. Sourabh’s mission remains clear — to give India’s forgotten street foods a global stage and ensure that no matter where you are, “home is always just a bite away.”
