Zirakpur, Punjab – Electric mobility pioneer Yulu has made its debut in the Chandigarh Tricity region by launching operations in Zirakpur, marking a significant step in its North India expansion strategy. The move is part of Yulu’s growing efforts to meet the rising demand for sustainable logistics solutions across urban India.
The entry into Zirakpur is Yulu’s first franchise partnership in North India, operated by SP NexGen, a venture led by mobility entrepreneur Sahil Goyal. The partnership will see the deployment of Yulu’s DeX electric vehicles and technology platform, specifically targeting the delivery and last-mile logistics segment.
Strategically located between Chandigarh, Panchkula, and Ambala, Zirakpur offers an ideal gateway for Yulu’s foray into the Tricity market. The service is aimed at supporting gig workers and delivery personnel, with electric vehicle access for food and grocery delivery platforms. Yulu has already established collaborations with major delivery services including Swiggy, Zomato, Zepto, and Blinkit.
Initial deployment will begin in Zirakpur, with plans to expand to Peer Muchalla and Kharar. SP NexGen conducted extensive pilot runs with various distribution centers in the region to evaluate market readiness prior to the official rollout.
Supporting this launch, Yuma Energy has set up two battery-swapping stations in Zirakpur, with further infrastructure planned as operations scale. As part of the partnership, Yulu will also provide comprehensive training in operations, unit economics, and business development to SP NexGen’s team.
Founded in 2017, Yulu has become a key player in India’s electric shared mobility sector, operating in cities such as Bengaluru, Mumbai, Delhi NCR, and Hyderabad. To date, users have logged over 1.3 billion kilometers using Yulu vehicles, contributing to a reduction of more than 45 million kilograms in carbon emissions.
With the addition of Zirakpur, Yulu now operates in ten Indian cities, including six through franchise-led models. The expansion comes amid growing demand for eco-friendly delivery solutions, driven by the rise in e-commerce and quick-commerce logistics. Local policy support for electric mobility in the Tricity region further strengthens the growth potential for Yulu’s operations.
